UP government primary schools to witness major transformation by 2022 under 'Operation Rejuvenation'. It will change the quality of education in government primary schools to compete with convent schools

Uttar Pradesh government has decided to change the education system in government primary schools in the state and make them on par with convent schools. UP Chief Minister has given a deadline till 2022 to UP Basic Shiksha Parishad to change and modify the quality of education in the primary government schools. Under ‘Operation Rejuvenation’, a total of 1.59 lakh primary schools in the state will get the facilities to be provided by the state government. Out of the 14 standards set, schools will work for 10 standards in the first phase. By 2022, the remaining four standards would be covered by the Parishad. The state government is also thinking of introducing the NCERT syllabus in the government schools from the academic session 2021- 22. Till now around 16 schools in the state have been turned into English medium schools. Also, spoken English classes have also started and teachers have been appointed for this in schools. Library, reading corner, projector, etc. are being arranged in schools for better and quality education in these schools. Along with this, the UP government is planning to recruit around 50 thousand assistant teachers in the state by next year. This recruitment drive will help in reducing the shortage of teachers in government schools. As per the Patrika report, Minister of State for Basic Education Satish Dwivedi said that all efforts are being made to provide the necessary environment in schools through ‘Operation Rejuvenation’. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government is in the process to fill up UP 69000 Teacher Vacancy in the state as per the result declared in May 2020 as per Supreme Court’s verdict. The petition filed by Uttar Pradesh Shiksha Mitra Association challenging the Allahabad High Court decision to uphold the cut-off marks for selection of assistant basic teachers in the state was dismissed by the highest Court in November.
